More about the product
The SkyWatcher Startravel 102T is a 102/600 refracting telescope, which is the bigger alternative of the 102/500 telescope. The objective lens is a Fraunhofer-type system with 2 elements. The objective lens is fully multi coated and provides excellent and distortion free view. The rack and pinion focuser is made of metal and accepts 2" eyepieces and accessories (optional). At 17x magnification the field of view is large, over 3,5 degrees, and is ideal for observing North America-, Pelican-, Andromeda- or Veil-nebula, especially with a UHC or OIII filter. However the telescope is ideal for observing large and faint objects, but of course can be used to observe Moons and planets in the magnification range of 20-150x.
The easy to use AZ Pronto azimuthal tripod comes with precisional mechanic parts so the positioning is very precise even with high magnifications. Thanks to the telescopic tripod the stance is very stable while it's light weight and small size make it easy to store.
