The orthoscopis eyepieces provide the best theoretical image quality close to the optical axis. Almost no field curvature, no spherical and colour aberrations, negligable reflections and extremely high contrast. A popular design for lunar, planetary and binary star observations.

The Castell Ortho eyepieces are classic 4-element ortho eyepieces with multicoatings on all glass-air surfaces. The field of view is slightly wider, reaches 50°, meaning better comfort for observing the Moon. The 1.25\" eyepieces have standard filter threads.

Az ötfajta fókusztávolsággal gyártott Castell ortho okulárok remekül sikerültek. Képalkotásuk a legendás Vixen ortho-kéval vetekszik, bár egy hajszálnyi különbség azért érzékelhető a Vixenek javára. A képélesség nem hagy kívánni valót maga után. Az 50 fokos látómező kellemes meglepetés a Vixenek 40 fokos LM-jéhez képest.

Cons

Az okulársorozat öt okulárja közül a 4,8 mm-es színezése az optikai tengelyen kívül erős. A 10,5 mm-esben a Holdnál reflexiókat lehetett látni, de erről nem feltétlen az okulár tehet (zenittükör is okozhatta) Az okulárok transzmissziója nem kiemelkedő, ezért a Jupiteren a színek fakóbbak, mint a Vixen orthókkal (4,8 mm). F/5 körüli refraktorokkal nehezen használhatóak, a kép minősége romlik.

Summary

Az okulársorozat tagjai elsősorban f/7 feletti távcsövekkel, különösen reflektorokkal adnak szép képet. Gyönyörű volt a Jupiter 200/1000-es reflektorral, a sávokban rengeteg rögöt lehetett látni, és a Vörös Folt fakó narancssárga színben látszott. A sorozat legjobban sikerült tagja a 7,7 mm-es okulár. A 4,8 mm-es képélessége lenyűgöző, de a tengelyen kívüli erős színezése miatt adtam 4-est az optikai minőségre. Színezés az optikai tengelyben, és a LM 2/3-án nem tapasztalható, csak az okulár peremén. A Planetary okulárok képélességét a tengelyben felülmúlják.
