DSLR cameras provide an excellent way to take stunning astrophotos without a dedicated CCD camera. Experience shows that Canon EOS cameras are ideal for this task. The only drawback is that the original filter in front of the sensor does not allow the H-alpha wavelength light to pass through fully. By replacing this filter with a specially designed one from Baader all light in this wavelength can be captured.

White balance is changed after the replacement of the filter. To use the camera normally during everyday life one has to set the white balance manually. No other function is affected by the change.
Note that the warraty gets void by this replacement, but these cameras are very reliable. Many amateurs use their filter-replaced cameras without any problem.

Since 2006 lots of filter replacements have been done. During the replacement we are paying extreme attention to ensure that the sensor remains dust-free. Only perfectly working cameras are accepted for filter replacement. If the camera had been serviced previously, please let us know the details before the replacement.

The filter-replaced camera can perform in this wavelength much better than the original one, similar to a dedicated CCD camera.
