The shaking of the telescope and the mechanics is not a very welcome thing. Shaking can normally be reduced with a stronger tripod, but this is not always possible. With inexpensive vibration-reducing stands, the amplitude of the shake can be reduced considerably, but not the amplitude, but the damping time, which can make a very noticeable difference. The effectiveness of the pads depends on the configuration, with different systems having different levels of effect.

Pros

Viscoelastic damper system offers much needed attenuation of vibrations which are a big nuisance for large telescope tubes. This thing works. It's not perfection, but it cuts down image wobbling time by over 50 %, as well as the amplitude of vibration.
