SkyWatcher Skymax-90 Maksutov-Cassegrain (90/1250) on StarQuest mount

This SkyWatcher Skymax 90MC telescope is recommended for those who are looking for a really compact sized telescope. The scope is lightweight and short (length is 24cm, with focuser 29cm), so it is easy to transport. The optical quality is very good, and central obstruction is 32% only resulting in a sharp and contrasty images. The focuser has a T-mount as well to attach a camera. A 10mm and 25mm Barium eyepiece is included (50x and 125x) and a 31.7mm star diagonal and StarPointer as well. The magnification range can be extended to 30-180x.

The StarQuest mount is a modern, lightweight and very easy to use equatorial mount. The design makes it very easy and precise to operate. You can fine-tune the position of the instrument easily with high magnifications also. From Horizon to Zenith  you can accurately point to all types of celestial bodies. The telescope connects to the mount head with a standard Vixen type dovetail, which is a quick and easy connect method. It has a foldable lightweight aluminium tripod. A clock drive system can be connected to it (optional).

Direction of Dec and RA axes can be rotated at 360 degrees. The RA and Dec gear tooth numbers are 122.

The StarQuest mount is functionally very similar to the Avant mount, but instead of the polar wedge we can adjust the pole height using the two screw solutions. Like the Avant, the axes are lightweight, but they have a strong design, and can be fixed by the discs on the bottom. Both axles have fine-tuning (with the usual flexible arms). The instrument can now be fixed to the mount with a more practical plate. The counterweight sits on a threaded end counterweight shaft. The length and weight is less than the EQ2 mount. The reason for this is that, due to the more compact mechanical head, the center of gravity of the telescope is closer, so a shorter axis and less weight are required.

The head is located on the thinner aluminum tripod, which provides sufficient stability. The head can be fixed to the stand with the usual hand-held screw. The head has a black finish with green sticker scale. The capacity of the mount is approx. 4 kg.
