SkyWatcher Skymax-127 Maksutov-Cassegrain (127/1500) on StarDiscovery WiFi goto mount

The SkyWatcher SkyMax 127 MC is a really compact sized model which shows great details on planets. The short tube makes easy to transport. This telescope has 127 mm aperture, which is more powerful than the 90 mm or 102 mm models. The central obstruction is 30% only, resulting in contrasty image even at high magnifications. Compared to similar aperture telescopes (eg. Explorer 130 models) this Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope is much shorter and weights less meaning that it is easier to transport, however the central obstruction makes the image a bit less contrasty.

The recommended magnification range is 37.5x-260x and provides sharp images on Moon and planets. Dovetail plate is included but there's a standard photo thread at the bottom of the scope as well. The two eyepieces provided deliver 60x and 150x magnification. A Starpointer or an achromatic 6x30 spring load finderscope is included (depending on the model). The focuser has a T-thread making it possible to mount cameras as well.

The Star Discovery mount is a highly portable Alt-Az GoTo mount includes a SynScan Wi-Fi module, so it can be controlled wirelessly with your smartphone or tablet using the free SynScan App for iOS or Android. It can also be used with the GOTO hand controller.

Both the SynScan hand controller or the SynScan App provides full computerised GO-TO control to the mount, allowing your telescope to be automatically slewed to any of the objects in the App’s extensive database of 10,000+ celestial objects, including objects from Messier, IC, NGC and Caldwell catalogs, the planets, named stars, double stars, variable stars and even user-defined objects like new comets.

The Wi-Fi module creates its own Wi-Fi network, so the mount can be used anywhere, without relying on other WiFi networks. After entering your coordinates into the App and following a simple alignment procedure, you can explore the universe using the App’s intuitive touchscreen menu.

It has a 12V power socket (220V power adapter is sold separately) and a separate compartment for 8 AA batteries (sold separately) which is integrated with the body of GOTO computerize mount. This mount can be place on an adjustable stainless steel tripod which is made up of aluminum with accessory tray provides a firm support to the mount and telescope.
