SkyWatcher Skymax-102 Maksutov-Cassegrain (102/1300) on Avant mount

The short tube is easy to transport and shows great details on planets. This telescope is a 102mm aperture compact telescope showing more details than the 90mm model. The central obstruction is 30% only resulting in contrasty image even at high magnification. Compared to the Explorer 102 refracting telescope the aperture is similar but this Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope is much shorter and weights less meaning that it is easier to transport, however the central obstruction makes the image a bit less contrasty. The recommended magnification range is 32-200x and shows excellent details on Moon or planets, and can be used to observe brighter deepsky objects as well.

The AVANT AZ-EQ mount can be used both in azimuthal or equatorial mode. Its modern design makes it very easy and precise to operate. You can fine-tune the position of the instrument easily with high magnifications also. From Horizon to Zenith  you can accurately point to all types of celestial bodies. It has a sturdy tripod, yet it is very light and foldable in a small space.
