OPTOLONG L-eNhance CCD filter (50.8mm)

This filter allows simultaneous recording of H-alpha and OIII narrow-band images.

How does it work? The new Optolong L-eNhance filter has been developed to operate narrowband images with color cameras as effectively as possible. A standard Bayer matrix filters the incoming light to red / green / blue and then came the idea to combine this with a narrowband filter which lets only the two lines pass. The red H-alpha light is transmitted by the red pixels and the blue-green OIII light by the blue and green pixels. So you can capture with a single shot both H-alpha and O-III. It is therefore no longer necessary with the L-eNhance filter to record the narrowband frames separately, but one can actually register the available signal in both channels on a recording. You can process this as a normal color image, or read out the channels separately with suitable software and thus obtain pure non debayered narrowband images (eg with the process SplitCFA in PixInsight).
