Some people think that the biggest disadvantage of a Newtonian telescope is that it needs regular checking of collimation. This step can be done quickly and easily with some practice.

Laser collimators can be used to check and correct collimation before each observing session. They are great to do collimation alone in the dark, especially if we have longer FL Newton telescope.

BTC laser collimator is the lightest and smallest among the collimators. The laser beam is well defined, the housing fits stable on an 1,25" eyepiece holder. Screen is 45 degree angled so you can see easily the laser beam from the end of the telescope. Runs from a CR2032 battery, and can be collimated if necessary.

GSO laser collimator fits to a 1.25" focuser, the process can be checked from behind the telescope while working with the adjustment screws. The laser beam is parallel to the body of the device, but in case of need the beam itself can be collimated with the three small screws located on the sides. To check the collimator itself slowly turn in the focuser and check how the laser spot moves.

Baader Laser Colli MkIII is a well machined laser collimator with a small, well defined laser beam and great screen. It won best Laser award in "Sky at Night" magazine.

Pros

Pár perc alatt beállítottam vele a newtonomat, jó választás volt. A lézert nem kellett kollimálni, elemet adnak hozzá, az árát megéri.

Cons

Kicsit "kotyog" a kihuzatba, de ez könnyen orvosolható.

Pros

Használatával könnyen beállítható a segéd es főtükör pozíciója. Stabil, strapabíró kialakítású. Barlow lencsèvel kombinálva még pontosabban beállítható a főtükör.

Cons

Első használat előtt jusztirozni kell, mivel gyárilag nem tökéletes a beállítása.

A célnak megfelel, miután beállítottam.

Cons

Ez hosszú lesz! Először az tűnt fel, hogy a kihuzatba helyezve az eszközt kissé kotyog, billeg benne. A kihuzat rögzítő csavarjait meghúzva az eszköz természetesen valamilyen pozícióban rögzült. A távcső jusztírozását követően azt tapasztaltam, hogy ha a kihuzatban a jusztírozót a korábbi helyzetéhez képest 90 fokkal elforgatom, majd a kihuzat csavarjaival újra rögzítem, a lézer már nem jó beállítást mutat. A jusztírozó kihuzatba illeszkedő részére két réteg celluxot tekerve a kotyogás megszűnt, de az örömöm még nem lehetett teljes. Azt írják, hogy az eszközt beállítva, központosítva szállítják. Az előbbi celluxos módszerrel meggyógyított, a kihuzatban most már nem lötyögő, abba szépen illeszkedő eszközt a kihuzatban lassan körbeforgatva a főtükrön a lézer nagyjából körbejárta a főtükör középpontját, tehát nem volt központos. A jusztírozóról a matricát el kellet távolítanom, hogy a lézert központosra állíthassam. Ezzel sajnos a garancia elveszett, de nem volt más választásom, ha használni akarom.

A must have gadget for fast and very precise collimation. Decent price.

Cons

Collimator's collimation screws are below the sticker so one has to destroy the sticker to collimate it, but that's just a slight nuisance. Collimator is sadly not dimmable, which is a problem for night vision, but this can be mended with a piece of filter foil.

Summary

Get it if you want affordable precision for your telescope. Remember to make a wedge and collimate the collimator because it doesn't come already collimated.
