LACERTA Herschel prism with Brewster angle (T2)

When using the Herschel wedge it is not needed to use an objective filter. The wedge diverts most of the Sun's heat and light and only a fraction is projected into the eyepiece. This Herschel wedge including an ND 3.0 filter, but an additional polarising filter (or an additional ND 0.9 instead of the polarising filter) is necessary for visual observations. With using more neutral density filters it is possible to adjust the image brightness as well.
A recommended accessory is the Solar Continuum filter from Baader, which makes the solar surface even more contrasty.

To use the wedge for photographic purposes, even more light can pass to the camera. Just remove the ND 3.0 filter and replace it with an ND 1.8 one. Also an adapter is needed to attach the camera to the standard 1.25" connector.

The wedge can be attached with a T2 thread to the telescope. At the other sied, the standard 1,25" eyepiece adapter is removable, where an other T2 thread to connect any T2 standard accessories (cameras, etc...)  The light path is very short, so it does not require extremely long light path, meaning that focus can be reached with most of the telescopes and cameras.
