Filter drawer - quick and practical

If you do not need the full range of functions of a computer-controlled filter wheel, but still want to take pictures with a filter, the simplest and lightest solution is a filter drawer. The filter change is done in seconds, you do not lose valuable observation time and you do not have to fumble around at night outdoors near the sensor - like a clip filter.

Magnetically fixed - no fixing screw necessary!

Unlike other filter drawers, the LACERTA drawer does not have to be fixed with a screw on the side. There is also no risk that the screw will not be tightened properly and that the drawer will slide out. Two pairs of magnets (both on the drawer housing and on the drawer itself) on the right and left side ensure a stable hold. It couldn't be easier!

Overall length only 16.4mm

Since commercially available filter frames have a height of around 8 to 9 mm, the drawer itself must be designed appropriately. We have made a total length of 16.4mm: about 10% shorter than other types. It would only be shorter with unmounted filters. However, it is more practical to be able to use the usual 2 "mounted filters instead of having to buy additional unmounted filters.

Possible uses - recommendations

    DeepSky photography with color cameras or DSLR. A nice contrast increase is possible with broadband filters, such as L-Pro, CLS, UHC, as well as medium-wide O-III, H-alpha and dual-band filters.

    DeepSky photography with monochrome cameras. Here we recommend narrow band filters, H-alpha, O-III and S-II range, but also the L-Pro for the luminance with strong light pollution.

    Planetary photography. We have to work quickly, especially with the rapidly rotating planets Jupiter and Saturn. In addition to the LRGB, also IR pass, and methane band filter.

    Visual deepsky observation. We recommend OIII filters of different bandwidth, or the UHC.

    Visual planetary observation. Different color filters (Mars: dark blue and orange, Jupiter: green, Venus: violet, moon: neutral or dark green) are useful
