These filters transmit light only around the O-III wavelength. Recommended for supernova remnants and planetary nebulae but perform well on emission nebulae as well. In contrary to UHC filters these are not general-purpose deepsky filters. Perform well both visually and photographically.

The image below shows the transmission of different models. The best filter is the one where the transmission band is the narrowest, as this provest the highest contrast.

Pros

Planetáris-ködökre, szupernóva-maradványokra, és az emissziós ködök jó részére rendkívül jól használható. Egyáltalán nem rontja a képet f/4-4.5 körüli fényerős távcsövekben sem (a csillagok tökéletesen pontszerűek maradnak). Sokkal szélesebb az áteresztése, mint a Baader OIII szűrőé, ezért több csillagot hagy meg és nem olyan iszonyatosan kontrasztos a képe. De minden részlet látszik az Astronomikkal is, ami a Baaderrel. A több csillag pedig rajzolásnál nagyon előnyös.

Tökéletes égen a déli féltekéről 10 cm-es távcsővel megmutatta a Vela szupernóva-maradvány legfényesebb szálait (szűrő nélkül esélytelen). De nem kell a déli ég alá utazni - érdemes nagyobb távcsővel, OIII szűrővel rápillantani a Fátyol-ködre. Az élmény garantált.
